Position Description: Part Time Volunteer Coordinator

Reports to: Development Director

Hours of Work: 20 Hours per Week, flexible, some evenings and weekends

Salary Range$13.53 - $15.68 Per Hour + Health Insurance

Benefits: Prorated

Work Location: Administration Office – Everett

 Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage volunteer services and recognition
  • Recruit volunteers
  • Arrange and coordinate volunteer trainings
  • Maintain volunteer database including compilation of monthly statistics
  • Produce and distribute written materials for recruitment and training
  • Maintain written and oral communication with volunteers
  • Coordinate use of volunteers with program managers
  • Prepare and deliver written and oral volunteer recruitment presentations
  • Undertake other duties as assigned

 

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum 1 year experience working with volunteers
  • Excellent public speaking, written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Comfortable knowledge of computer programs such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint. etc.
  • Ability to communicate in a manner that reflects respect and equality among all individuals of diverse cultural, ethnic, faith, mental/physical or sexual orientation backgrounds
  • Ability to work with people from a wide variety of backgrounds
  • Ability to work independently and as a cooperative team member
  • Ability to consistently adhere to defined Agency policies and procedures

  • Ability to articulate Domestic Violence Issues and Domestic Violence Advocacy

 

 

 

 RELIEF WOMEN’S ADVOCATE

HOURS: Part-time as needed/scheduled to fill Advocate shifts at the CBW Shelter

Purpose of Position: The position provides advocacy services to crisis line callers and to residents of CBW’s confidential women’s and children’s shelter who are victims of domestic violence. It advocates for and consistently encourages the empowerment of women to make independent choices that can lead them and their children to safer, more productive lives.

Responsibilities:

Be reasonably available to respond to Shelter need for advocate to cover day or evening shifts.

  • Provide crisis intervention information and referral, safety planning, support, and advocacy to crisis line callers and shelter residents
  • Screen domestic violence victims for admittance to emergency shelter
  • Complete shelter screening, intake and exit procedures
  • Provide individual support and advocacy based services to the shelter’s battered women and their children
  • Monitor shelter activities to assure maintenance of a supportive and safe shelter atmosphere
  • Share case management responsibilities with other shelter advocates
  • Maintain all required shelter paperwork in a timely, accurate, objective, and confidential manner
  • Facilitate support groups as assigned
  • Function as a cooperative member of a shelter services team, communicating with other staff and attending meetings as requested
  • Communicate with all callers, shelter residents and staff in a manner that reflects respect and equality among all individuals of diverse cultural, ethnic, faith, mental/physical or sexual orientation backgrounds.
  • Conduct all work in a manner consistent with the policies and procedures of the shelter and of the agency.
  • Maintain consistent client/advocate and staff/staff boundaries that encourage client and individual staff decision-making and problem solving of each individual’s issues.
  • Conduct all work in a manner consistent with Board and Personnel Policies
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

 

Women’s Advocate

REQUIREMENTS:

 Experience and/or training in crisis intervention and counseling

  • Experience working with women and children in crisis, preferably in a residential setting
  • Understanding of domestic violence issues and victim’s needs
  • Ability to make decisions and exercise sound judgment
  • Demonstrated skill in written and oral communication
  • Ability to provide culturally appropriate services to people from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to work as a member of a team as well as independently
  • Bilingual capabilities preferred.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of information
